Improving Attention Span with Simple Activities

Hey Parents! If you noticed your child has shorter attention span comparing to kids of his/age, there are some strategies you can use to improve it.

Child development experts say that, on average, a child should be able to stay focused on a task for 2-5 minutes multiplied by their age. So an average of a four year old should be able to focus up to 20 minutes, probably more depending on the task.

Attention span is elastic and can be improved. We understand it can be nearly impossible to keep your child's attention when they are completely uninterested. Children may struggle when asked to do something they do not want to. Instead of teaching math, alphabets or skills-related in a conventional way (Boring), try introducing instructional value toys to make them interested and motivated to learn.

Some examples:

Building a ramp track could take them 10 minutes or so, Meanwhile  parents should engage and educate them with the colours, shapes and how it works.

Educational memory game can keep them excited while increases their focus to remember the objects around.

Developing motor-skills by following the shapes display on the cards. This tasks helps them thinking abstractly by observing, planning and doing what they are told in a fun way.

These educational toys help your child and can go along way before they start their school.
