Guide to Fueling Creativity
Hey Parents! Sparking your child creative thinking is easier than you think. Their imaginations are endless and often asking intriguing questions that we may have difficulty answering them. Always find examples instead of directly answer to their questions.
A good practice to spur their creativity level higher is to demonstrate more than one way of playing the educational toys or when solving a problem. Give them a quick tutorial and encourage them to experiment with the toys.
Take pencils as an example, you can turn that into a drum-stick, a tool to punch hole or multiple pencils to create shapes like a house. Applaud all ideas when they are playing differently, especially the ones that think out of the box. Refrain from rejecting their ideas which can discourage them.
Make it a priority to be regular and have dedicated intervals of creative play that help your child develop well. When they engage with toys, embrace their curiosity and do not let them fear of what they do not know. Their intriguing questions starting with "why" leads them to new discovery therefore it is easier for them to connect the dots and find an answer.
Remember you are the influencer to your child life. Celebrate creativity instead of pointing out errors. Perfectionism defeats children fear to explore. Lastly, be creative yourself and the more you demonstrate creativity, the more your kids will be actively looking at multiple ways of doing things.
Good luck!
