Early Childhood Parenting

Children's development in cognitive and interaction skills needed for later success in school very much depends on the parenting style. The aspect of supportive and responsiveness towards their kids is vital to provide a strong foundation for children to develop optimally. Here are some parenting styles and the effect on their child.

  • Authoritative - Children who have authoritative parents tend to have the best outcomes (school success, good peer skills, high self-esteem).
  • Permissive - Permissive parents are lenient and only step in when there is a serious problem. Kids who grow up in this parenting style are more likely to struggle in academics.
  • Uninvolved - Uninvolved parents have little knowledge of what their children are doing and only a few rules as long as the child don't step on your tail. Children may struggle with self-esteem issues.

Researchers would encourage to adopt authoritative style as this style describe the dedication, commitment and guiding the child every steps and their milestone.
