Choosing Educational Toys for Toddlers

Hey Parents! Grounded in a scientific perspective, educational toys supports children overall developments. The practical point-of-view is that play-based approach continues to be critical that strengthens their learning motivations and outcomes.

Every child begins to explore and absorb rapidly with the toys introduced to them. Some of the stimulating educational toys for your baby first year includes:

Sensory Development - Toys with music and lights
Infants recognize the melody of a songs before they get to understand the words.
They respond to the melody by swaying side to side, and moving their hands and feet. Day by day, infants will sharpens their hearing and get used to the sound of human speech. This makes it easier for them to learn new words and start singing along.

Imagination Development - Theme Books
Theme books illustrate pictures that are particularly interesting to toddlers. Some of my favorite memories of my kids as toddlers are of them reacting to birds in the sky as per what they saw in the book. After I bought them a cuddle toy bird, their brain revisited what birds do during their play. They held up high and starts to imagine birds flying. That's my side story, but I want to give parents an idea of how your child will be compelled to create their own visual in their mind to revise and reinvent at later play.

Hand-Eye Coordination - Stackers Blocks
Great way to fine-tune movements before they participate in more complex activities such as holding a crayon to draw and using utensils for their meals. You might think it is silly to just stack blocks but it's an important foundation for toddler to get used to their movement.

Early Knowledge - Flash Cards
Flash cards are one of my favorite activities when interacting with my children. It's good to spend time with them going through the card repeatedly and slowly instill their minds with colours, numbers, shapes and objects. Sometimes I would run out of ideas but with the flash cards, I can elaborate and describe which brings meaningful topics to my children. I am pretty sure some parents faced the same issues like me.

During their play, your child may get frustrated which I recommend you to check out our advice by clicking here
